About Christchurch Weather Live

This weather site was created by Chris Crowe, a software engineer for Trimble Navigation in Christchurch, New Zealand. With the help of a friend and colleage Simon Cobb from Fendalton Weather Service who provides the actual raw weather data.

The site is written in ASP.net using the C# language. The charts on the main page (except for the wind chart) are drawn directly into the browser window with the help of a small javascript library from Walter Zorn. The charts on the main charts page and the wind chart on the home page are drawn using a small library I wrote in C# and are rendered on the fly when you browse the page.

The Webcam image is from Simon's roof and the videos are from his site as well.

There are special pages that fit the Blackberry 8310 screen (320 x 240) available at http://weather.crowe.co.nz/bb.

If I get requests I could update this for other models such as the Perl with its different screen resolution (240 x 260).
